'Along the road, I go so lonely . . . '
(extracted from the lyrics of a Brazilian song Little Red Riding-Hood)
One km of sparse woodland on the right-hand side of the Funarte building, north wing, close to the Monumental Axis, going from the bus-station to the train-station, Brasília-DF
Geometric "drawings", creating vertical and horizontal lines between one tree and another, building a web of intersecting planes (see attached project).
Material: 4.000 meters of white and red plastic clothesline
Dance performance based on "Little Red Riding-hood", to be performed at the opening night.
1- Using drawing and painting as main reference, this work flirts with the universe of contructivist art, projecting on a monumental scale, the geometric elements common to the modernist architecture of the city of Brasília.
2- The clash between nature and artifice concentrates my major interests in contemporary art. This intervention sets a dialogue between both the real and the metaphorical elements that compose an open air space and an artistic space.
3- I have been working with synthetic materials since my masters degree, in 1997, always celebrating/questioning the artificial and the non-natural character of art.
4- Since 2003, I have also directed my attention to the space occupied by art, literally, and the interaction between space and audience.
5- All my work is inspired by childhood.
