Borrowing from Pop, this installation of paintings presented circles as leitmotifs for subversion-by-excess, and love of the non-natural. Defying the traditional distinction between art and decoration, and thinking of art as a vehicle for beauty, I wanted to stimulate visual pleasure and involve the spectator's senses.
I wanted to contrast a simple form : the circle with a complex range of different configurations and meanings. Irony was intended here, but not to subjugate the humanistic qualities that I believe can still be found in a painting.
