Simon Oliver was born, bred and educated in Surrey, England. From an early age his mother a talented portrait artist, introduced him to painting and he was also deeply inspired by the colourful rural surroundings of his home. He grew up living and feeling close to nature and quickly became aware of the spiritual essence within all living things. At school he excelled in art and essay writing and also became a champion athlete, gymnast and archer.
As a teenager, his psychic insight and knowledge of the supernatural and mystical were nurtured and broadened by a local medium and her husband. At this time he travelled widely in Europe before moving to Cornwall to live and work within a fishing community and artist colony.
He was a fisherman for several years and also became an active RNLI crewmember and a helmsman of the inshore lifeboat. During this period he also pursued his artistic interests and endeavours in painting and stone sculpture and he has exhibited throughout Cornwall, Devon and the London area.
Simon also trained as a hypnotherapist and hypnoanalyst - practicing for several years and specializing in regression therapy. He then moved back to his roots in Surrey where he pursues his interest in trompe loeil mural painting, receiving commissions both at home and abroad. Throughout his life however, Simon has nurtured his great passion for writing and has developed this through short stories, a play, and a paranormal adventure series for TV. He has recently published his first book, a novel called CHANGE: An Adventure in Life and Afterlife.
Simon is not however, a conventional writer — the subjects of his work are paranormal and metaphysical and so are the sources of his inspiration. He is a channelling medium and has acquired a broad psychic and spiritual knowledge from his personal experiences and his studies. He has now dedicated his creative energies predominantly to his literary work and his future projects and interests concern the spiritual nature of Life, metaphysics and human development.
He will also continue his life-long interest in ancient cultures and plans to visit more historical sites throughout the world and learn about the indigenous inhabitants, their philosophies and myths, arts and craftwork.
Other sporting pastimes have been playing cricket and football for his hometown - also karate and Qi Gong but more latterly - golf. Flight has always fascinated Simon and he enjoys parachuting, hang-gliding and paragliding.
