Simon Oliver

Simon Oliver was born, bred and educated in Surrey, England. From an early age his mother — a talented portrait artist, introduced him to painting, and he was also deeply inspired by the colourful rural surroundings of his home. At school he excelled in art and essay writing and also became a champion athlete, gymnast and archer.

As a teenager, his psychic insight and knowledge of the supernatural and mystical were nurtured and broadened by a local medium and her husband. At this time he travelled widely in Europe before moving to Cornwall to live and work within a fishing community and artist colony of St.Ives.

He was a fisherman for several years, and an active RNLI crewmember and helmsman of the inshore lifeboat. During this period he also pursued his artistic interests and endeavours in painting and stone sculpture, exhibiting throughout Cornwall, Devon and the London area.

For five years Simon was employed as a painter and maintenance crewman on the lighthouses around Cornwall, the Channel Islands and southern England. Whilst stationed on remote and offshore lighthouses he used his spare time to develop his passion for writing.

Upon leaving the Lighthouse Service, Simon trained and qualified as a hypnoanalyst at Regents College London and practiced in Cornwall, specializing in regression therapy. Since then he has moved back to his roots in Surrey where he now pursues his artistic interests and love for trompe l`oeil mural painting. He receives commissions both at home and abroad.

Simon also trades as a painter and decorator but he has continued his writing by producing short stories, a play, and a paranormal adventure series for TV. In 2008 he published his first book, a novel called CHANGE — An Adventure in Life and Afterlife.

Simon is not a conventional writer — the subjects of his work are spiritual and supernatural and so are the sources of his inspiration. He has acquired a broad psychic and metaphysical knowledge from his personal experiences and studies. His future writing projects and interests concern the spiritual nature of Life, metaphysics and human development.
