I do philosophy in central Brazil. I believe economies should be geared towards promoting and preserving sustainable human happiness. Economies ought to help dissolving schemes of privilege and empowering all the participants of the production and distribution of resources. I see OPTIMAES as a tool to clear our intuitions about what goes wrong in the currently practiced market economies and how things could be different. My general hunch is that we have been valuing security on top of anything else and this tends to be a road that doesn't lead to building widespread trust. Our money and accumulation based economies seem often instrumental to reinforce patriarchal structures and competitive values. I think our economic practices are oriented by false beliefs about scarcity and how to deal with it and, as a consequence, they put a lot of human lives under constant strain.
